My Check Engine Light is on. What should I do?
It doesn’t mean you have to immediately pull over and call a towing service.
But ignoring any warning light could could lead to bigger issues and cause more damage. It can also mean that you are not getting the best performance out of your vehicle.
When those mysterious lights on your dash start flashing letters at you, it can be scary for drivers whose main knowledge about vehicles is how to start them and steer them down the road.
If the check engine light illuminates, it will either blink or remain constantly illuminated, depending on the problem. A blinking light, or in some cars a red light instead of a yellow or orange light, indicates a problem that needs immediate attention. Either way, you should have the vehicle checked by a mechanic.
